An account of the resource
Newspaper article by "Westmeath-Offaly Independent" dated 4 January 1985 and entitled "Health Board to censure Desmond on contraception?". Discusses the Midland Health Board's opposing of Health Minister, Barry Desmond, T.D.'s liberalising of laws governing the availability of contraceptives. References the "blistering attack" by Mr. C. J. McCormack's, Consultant Surgeon at Portlaoise General Hospital, on the Irish Family Planning Association [I.F.P.A], who he accused of having "a vested interest in the promotion of sexual promiscuity".

Description
An account of the resource
A Women’s Place was established as part of the Quay Co-op when it opened in May 1982. Two room on the second floor, in the Quay Co-op were reserved for the Women’s Place. It was a drop-in space, where women could come for a cup of tea and a chat or to get information. The ethos of the Women's Place was clearly feminist. Various activities were organised in the space, and various groups began to meet there. It provided the space for the emergence of Cork lesbian groups.
