An account of the resource
A Women’s Place was established as part of the Quay Co-op when it opened in May 1982. Two room on the second floor, in the Quay Co-op were reserved for the Women’s Place. It was a drop-in space, where women could come for a cup of tea and a chat or to get information. The ethos of the Women's Place was clearly feminist. Various activities were organised in the space, and various groups began to meet there. It provided the space for the emergence of Cork lesbian groups. An account of the resource
Report from January 1984 about the staffing, finances and organisation of the Women's Place in the Quay Co-op Cork. It refers to the groups meeting in the Women's Place, including the Rape Crisis Centre, the Lesbian Group, Women's Group and the Greenham Common Support Group. It also discusses the various activities including the monthly Women's Bop, Women's Health talks and the plans for a series of monthly meetings in Connolly Hall and for further development of the Women's Place. Relations between the Women's Place and the Quay Co-op are also discussed.
