Description
A photograph of protesters holding banners and signs at the Anti-apartheid protest roadblock at Cork Airport in 1984. Banner reads, "Cork Dunnes Strickers Support Group". The protest was against the visit of Vol Tsek Evans, a representative of the South African apartheid regime, who had come to speak at an event in Cork. The event was subsequently cancelled. The Dunnes Stores anti apartheid strike was underway at the same time, where staff in the supermarket were refusing to handle South African goods in protest against the racist South African apartheid system.
