Description
The Irish Equality Authority published its report Implementing Equality for Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals in 2002. This report provided an agenda for action in addressing gay, lesbian and bisexual disadvantage in such areas as education, training, employment, services, health, support networks and community development. The report acknowledged the hostility, prejudice and systemic
exclusions that are all too often the experience of lesbian, gay and bisexual people and made recommendations for change.
The report resulted from the work of the Advisory Committee on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues
which was established by the Equality Authority under Section 48 of the Employment Equality Act.
The committee started work in December 1999 and included representatives of lesbian, gay and bisexual non-governmental organisations, academics, social partners and representatives of a number of statutory bodies.. Cork members were Orla Egan; Cllr. Peter Kelly,Cork Gay Community Development and Kieran Rose (GLEN and founding member of Cork Gay Collective).
