Gay's The Word Bookshop opened on 17 January 1979, making it Britain's longest running gay bookshop. It stocks an enormous range of queer literature and strives to create a warm welcoming safe space for the LGBT community.
Originally from Cork, Ireland, Jimmy MacSweeney has worked in Gay's the Word bookshop for over 30 years. As the Manager he brings his warm Irish charm to those he meets.
