A.C.T.S. [Adolescent Confidential Telephone Service] Project 21 page report for the year 1985 by the Irish Family Planning Association [I.F.P.A.]. Contents includes: a foreword by Dr Mary Short, Chairperson of I.F.P.A.; introduction explaining why A.C.T.S. was set up, and their aims and objectives; and 6 chapters. Chapter 1 entitled "The Beginnings" discusses the recruitment and training of volunteers, and the pilot project. Chapter 2 entitled "Difficulties" discusses male involvement, supervision, The Youth Group, and funding. Chapter 3 entitled "Promotion of the Service" discusses press coverage, feature articles, Television/Radio coverage and media consultation. Chapter 4 entitled "Evaluation" discusses an evaluation of calls compiled from their record January to December 1985. Sections include sex of callers, geographical areas served, age of callers, and details of calls received: sexual problems, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, facts of life, masturbation, size of sexual organs, wet dreams, guilt regarding sexual feelings, pregnancy testing and counselling, and telephone service referrals. Chapter 5 entitled "Recommendations/Conclusions" discusses sexually transmitted diseases. Chapter 6 entitled "Developments in The Youth Project" discusses the revision of original objectives. Pages 16-21 provide statistical data, represented in tables and graphs, regarding age, sex, geographical location, number of callers and details of inquires received.
