First page gives information about how HIV is spread (intravenous drug use, unsafe sex, perinatal transmission) and guidance in how to reduce the risks of HIV infection. Includes two diagrams demonstrating step-by-step guidelines for cleaning needles by boiling in hot water and soaking in bleach. Second page is entitled "Proposed Contents of 'AIDS and Drugs' Leaflet (Picture Form)". Provides similar information to the first page but with a different layout and diagrams. Third page is entitled "Proposed Text for A.A.A [AIDS Action Alliance] Information Booklet", dated 28 February, 1989. 1. What is AIDS? 2. What causes AIDS? 3. How is HIV transmitted? 4. Why are drug users at increased risk? 5. Why are Gay men associated with AIDS? 6. Are women at risk from HIV? Fourth page: 7. Can you get HIV by living or working with someone who had HIV? 8. Can a person with HIV but has no symptoms transmit the virus? 9. Can mosquitos transmit the virus? 10. Can ear-piercing or tattoo needles transmit the virus? 11. Can you get the virus by using the same razor or toothbrush as a person with HIV? 12. Is there a test for AIDS? Fifth page: 13. What is ARC? "ARC was a term that used to describe a less serious form of AIDS. It is not use much anymore and most doctors now say pre-AIDS." What are some of the diseases that affect people with AIDS? Mentions two main diseases: Pneumocystis Carninii Pneumonia (PCP) and Kaposi Sarcoma (KS). 15. How long does it take to develop AIDS? 16. How is AIDS treated? 17. What is the situation in Ireland with AIDS? Sixth page: 18. Who is at risk of catching the virus by having sex? 19. Can I catch the virus from just one new partner? 20. Are condoms useful? 21.
