Description
Cork’s LGBT Awareness Week is an annual event to highlight the presence of the vibrant LGBT communities in Cork. It is organised by the Cork City LGBT Inter-Agency Group.
Cork LGBT Awareness Week is organised to acknowledge and demonstrate that LGBT individuals are family members, community residents, constituents, citizens, visitors, service users and service providers. The purpose of the week was framed by Objective 86 of the 2002 Cork City Development Board Strategy Imagine our Future:
“The gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities will be enabled to fully participate in the social, cultural and economic life of Cork City.”
The LGBT Awareness week also aims to advance the LGBT elements in the Social Inclusion & Equality chapter of Cork City’s Local, Economic and Community Plan 2016 – 2021.
