Carol O’Keeffe is a Cork gender queer independent documentary filmmaker.

Carol was born in Dublin in 1971, adopted and raised in Cork.

Carol has been making films since 1999. Her/his films explore issues, including adoption, addiction, gender, identity and connection. S/he has won a number of awards at Film Festivals, including the Made In Cork Award at Cork Film Festival 1999; Audience Award at Dublin Lesbian and Gay Film Festival 2001; Best Documentary Europe at the Heart of England International Film Festival 2010; Best Irish Film at the South Tipperary International Film Festival 2011 and Best Documentary at Swansea Bay Film Festival 2011. Her/his film The Pieces of Me was broadcast on TG4 in 2013 and on Channel M in Manchester in 2010.

Carol is also a poet and writer and has led creative writing workshops in LINC lesbian and bisexual community centre. She/he was a member of LINC Drama group and performed in the play Ordinary Love in Cork Arts Theatre (CAT Club).

Carol volunteers with the Cork LGBT Archive.

Carol is an enthusiastic runner and has completed a number of marathons including Cork City Marathon and Dublin Marathon.
