Description
A vigil was held in memory of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee, two men who were murdered in separate homophobic attacks in Sligo, Ireland, in April 2022. Aidan Moffitt was a well-known local auctioneer and Fine Gael activist. Michael Snee was a retired healthcare worker. The murders of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee were widely reported in the media and sparked outrage across Ireland. Thousands of people participated in vigils held in towns and cities across all of Ireland to pay tribute to the two men. The vigil in Cork was organised by members from Gay Project, LINC and Cork Pride and was held in Bishop Lucey Park on Monday, April 18, 2022. Almost 500 people gathered in the park to listen to the tributes in memory of Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt. In October 2023 Yousef Palani was sentenced to life in prison for the murders. This collection contains photographs taken during the vigil in Cork.
