Press Releases for Cork AIDS Alliance. First press release dated 2 May 1990 and addressed 16 Peters Street, Cork. Subtitle reads "Fears for Secondary Schools' AIDS Education Programe [sic]." References Ronnie Dorney, Chairperson of the Cork AIDS Alliance, who said: "This year's school leavers will get no education on AIDS. It will be shocking if those responsible let the same happen next year." Notes that Dorney "was responding to the report from the weekend meeting of the Catholic Secondary Parents Association who criticised the lack of 'moral content' of the government's proposed programme." Second press release is dated 11 May 1990 and entitled "AIDS Response Disastrous". References Arthur Leahy, Cork AIDS Alliance secretary, speaking at the LGPSU Annual Conference and "claimed that no practical programme of health education was yet in place on the ground." Notes that Leahy "pointed to the tiny number in health education by our health boards as evidence for his view." Quotes Leahy: "The Public Sector Unions should demand the implementation of an AIDS information programme in schools as part of an overall programme of health education."
