Description
Document entitled "Press Release Irish Government Funds Two Workers for Gay Groups in Cork". Addressed Gay Health Action, c/o Quay Co-op., 24 Sullivan's Quay, Cork, Ireland. Dated 8 November, 1985. First page discusses the employment of two workers for gay groups in Cork to be funded under the Irish governments Social Employment Scheme. States that the purpose of the workers is to provide administrative and co-ordinating back-up to three groups (Gay Health Action, Gay Information Cork and the Cork Gay Collective), which are based at the Quay Co-op. Provides application requirements. Notes that the decision to fund these workers follows the sanctioning of a similar scheme for GHA in Dublin last May. Also notes the GHA's decision and 'safe sex' leaflet received "shock headlines in some right wing papers". Second page provides information about the Quay Co-op where the two workers will be based. Mentions to contact Donal Sheehan, GHA (Cork) for further information.
