John Calnan is a Cork gay activist.
John Calnan was born in West Cork in 1963, and grew up in Cork City.
John came out in the summer of 1985 by going to his first Cork Gay Collective meeting in the Quay Co-op . He attended his first Pride March in Dublin the following week.
John became actively involved with the Cork Gay Collective and over the following years with Gay Health Action, Cork Aids Alliance and Gay Information Cork.
John helped to set up The Other Place, Corks only dedicated Lesbian and Gay centre in 1991.
John is a member of Choral Con Fusion, Corks LGBTS Choir.
John works in the Quay Co-op in Cork.
