Description

A photograph of UCC Students' Union Queer Mural with, pictured from left to right, Dr. Jeremiah Diarmuid Scully (Lecturer in Medieval History, UCC), Mary O'Rourke (Co-Chair of the UCC LGBT+ Staff Network) and Orla Egan (LGBTQ+ rights activist and founder of the Cork LGBT+ Archive).

UCC Students' Union Queer Mural is a celebration of the diverse queer population of University College Cork. The art work is a recognition of the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community on a daily basis. The mural is located on 54 College Road by the UCC Students' Union, and serves as a reminder that UCC campus is a safe space for all members of the LGBTQ+ community and Queer joy is everlasting. Alannah O'Connor, the UCCSU Welfare Officer, led the project and collaborated with the talented artist, Éadaoin Flynn, a student in the Creativity and Change Programme in CCAD, who created the mural.
