Description

Letter from Kieran Rose and Margot Slattery, Co-Chairs of GLEN (Gay and Lesbian Equality Network) in support of the 2016 appeal by Pantibar Dublin to be able to continue to display its iconic sign (the appeal was successful).
Kieran Rose was active in the Cork Gay Community and the Quay Co-op in the 1980s, before moving to Dublin where he was involved with GLEN. Kieran Rose also worked as a city planner.
The letter argues the importance of gay bars for the LGBT community: "Gay bars as safe places to meet, celebrate, build friendships and communities, and fall in love have been critical to the development of and progress for lesbian and gay communities including in Ireland."
