Description

Newspaper article from Evening Press dated 25 February 1985 and entitled "Religions Protests on AIDS hysteria". Discusses the meeting of a group of Protestant, Catholic and Jewish leaders to call on the American public to show compassion for "AIDS victims" and to rebut "the idea that AIDS was a form of divine retribution"; "a punishment from God upon those who engaged in homosexual acts". References Rev. Carl Flemister, Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of Metropolitan New York, who described the idea of divine retribution as "un-Christian and judgemental".
