Description

GMHC (Gay Men's Health Crisis) leaflet (trifold) discussing the federal government's approval of widespread testing for the antibody (HTLV-III) to the virus (HIV) believed to cause AIDS. Discusses the risks to employment and health insurance that gay men face by taking this test. Mentions how being gay then was a criminal offence in the majority of states in the U.S. Notes how the licensing of the antibody test by the U.S. government has offered no protection for gay men or others in high-risks groups who are vulnerable to further discrimination. Also discusses false-negative and false-positive test results, intention of testing and the importance of informed consent.
