Description

The Lesbian Health Project operated from The Other Place LGBT Community Centre in Cork in the 1990s. It was set up in February 1996 in recognition of the lack of adequate and appropriate health care for lesbians.
The Lesbian Health Project provided advice for lesbians on health care issues and developed lesbian specific information on STDs, addictions, bereavement and HIV/AIDS. It facilitated the Lesbian Drug and Alcohol Recovery Group, provided Lesbian Safer Sex Workshops and conducted a Women's Sex Survey. An annual Lesbian Health Day was run from 1996.
