Description

A photograph of Cathal Kerrigan and Máirtín at the Gay Sweatshop Cork party in Trina Ni Ciardha and Frank's [surname unknown] flat, after the party in Hills Bar after the play, in 1980. Trina Ni Ciardha was the daughter of Prof. Tadgh O'Ciardha, President of UCC 1978-1988).

Gay Sweatshop was formed in London in 1975 and had its roots in the lunchtime theatre club "Ambience" held at the Almost Free theatre. In 1980 the london-based gay theatre group performed their play "Blood Green" in the Granary Theatre in Cork. This was one of the first events organised by the newly formed Cork Gay Collective.
