Description

A photograph of members of Cork Gay Collective and Quay Co-Op, including Arthur Leahy, at the information stand in Daunt Square Cork - providing information and petition in relation to the proposed amendment to the Irish Constitution to protect the life of the unborn child (Eight Amendment).
The Cork LGBT Community were actively involved in the campaign against this amendment. They made clear links between the fights for gay rights and women's rights and against state control of sexuality and gender expression.
According to Kieran Rose, the Cork Gay Collective effectively disbanded to put all it's energy into the Anti Amendment campaign in Munster. Catherine Forde was the chair and Eleanor Lambe the full time worker with offices in the Quay Coop.
