Description

Three newspaper clippings of articles written by Des McDonald, PRO, Family Solidarity, 15 Gardiner Place, Dublin 1.
First article from Irish Times is entitled "AIDS Video" and dated 11 February, 1992. Refers to the new Department of Health AIDS video (February 2nd) and the "shift in emphasis" from "safe sex" to "self-control". Contends that "safe sex" propaganda leads to "the spread of promiscuity". References the British Medical Journal, William Cash's article in the Spectator [weekly British magazine] (September 21st, 1991) and an editorial in the Irish Medical Times to argue that the rising AIDS epidemic has not caused changes in sexual behaviour and "advocating condom use does not work."
Second article from Sunday Tribune is entitled "Corrupting the Morals of the Public" and dated 16 February 1992. Refers to a Sunday Tribune news feature (9 February) on an organisation entitled "Condom Sense" which, according to McDonald is "planning to break the law and indecently corrupt public morals."
Third article from Irish Times is entitled "Condoms" and dated 18 February 1992. Refers to a Sunday Tribune news feature (6 February) on an organisation entitled "Condom Sense" which, according to McDonald, "is conspiring to break the law of the land." Notes that the aim of the organisation is "to place illegal condom machines in discos and bars for the young." Requests to "[l]ets be democratic and put the whole condom issue to a democratic referendum with the Maastricht Treaty in June."
Handwritten comment underneath newspaper clippings reads: "Our greatest supporter!"
